Lacura Beauty Volume Sensational Mascara First Impressions Review

I’m sure you all know by now that I love a good beauty bargain. Everynow and again I see a few beauty bits in Aldi and I love to test them out. I’ve tried another mascara from the Aldi beauty range which I reviewed here.

Before I’d even opened the box, I thought that the brush was a lot thicker than anything I’d ever tried before so I was curious to see what kind of effect that would have. I also really like the size of the Lacura Beauty, they come in very thick tubes which you get a lot of product in, and for only £2.50 that is brilliant!

Although it is called the Volume Sensational mascara it also says it gives you “irresistably long lashes” which seems like a lot to live up to. I don’t think I’ve ever tried a mascara that gives both volume and length at a good standard.

It does come out a bit clumpy but it does give decent volume and decent length so overall I’m pretty happy with this purchase. And, as for the thick wand, I find it helps coat all your lashes but doesn’t wok very well for bottom lashes and makes a bit of a mess!

If you are on a bit of a budget (like me!) I would recommend Lacura Beauty, so far I’ve tried 2 of their mascaras and their concealer and enjoyed them both.

Baby Name Tag

My favourite videos to watch on YouTube at the minute are baby name videos, they seem to be everywhere! So I thought I’d do a tag of my own.

Obviously I’m only 15 I don’t plan on having a baby any time soon and I’m definitely not pregnant at the minute but I love babies and I love these tags.

1. What is your favourite boy and girl’s name from the top UK names list (2016)?

Eliza is one of my favourite names ever and that is on the list and for a boy Elliot.
2. What is your least favourite boy and girl’s name from the top UK names list (2016)?

Probably Blake for a boy and Lexi for a girl, I don’t mean to offend anyone with those names!
2. If you had twins, what would you name them? (G/G, B/B, B/G)

2 girls I’d have Eliza and Quinn. 2 boys I’d have Luke and Toby. A boy and a girl I’d have Eliza and Jake.
3. If you could change your name to anything, what would it be?

I probably change it to Olivia which is my middle name.
4. You have 4 children, any gender. Their first names all have to start with the same letter. What would their names be?

Eliza, Elliot, Edward (shortened to Eddie) and Eva.
5. What’s your favourite animal-inspired name?

I don’t really like any animal-inspired names, they are all a bit too extreme for my liking!
6. What’s your favourite colour-inspired name?

7. What are your top 3 favourite boy names?

Elliot, Rory and Noah
8. What are your top 3 favourite girl names?

Eliza, April and Lydia
9. What is your favourite celebrity baby name?

Kourtney Kardashian named her daughter Penelope, I really like that name.
10. What is your ultimate guilty pleasure name?

11. What are your most hated baby names?

The only one I can think of right now is Chantelle, again apologies of I have offened any Chantelles.
12. Choose a baby name based on a food/drink.

13. Choose a baby name based on a month.

14. Choose a baby name from Twilight.

I really like Edward but shortened to Eddie
15. Choose a name that is already in your family.

My brother is called Sam, I quite like that name.

I tag everyone reading this to do the baby name tag. You don’t have to be expecting!

Garnier Micellar Cleansing Gel Wash Review

It has come to the time when I run out of my cleanser and I buy a new one and write a review of it! I had previously been using the Micellar cleansing water but I thought I’d give the gel version a go.

My first impression of this is that it takes more effort than the water. But I do find that it feels like you’ve actually cleaned your face as well as taken your makeup off. I haven’t used it enough to see if it makes a difference in my skin but if it does I will definitely let you all know.

It has no perfume in it but instead it has an awful alcohol smell which is quite off-putting and I find it stings quite a bit if you get it in your eyes- which is hard to avoid when taking mascara off. But I’ve found that if you put a tiny bit of this on a damp cotton pad it works better for eye makeup than using your hands, which I think works fine for the rest of your face.

Overall I think it really depends on what you’re looking for in a cleanser. If you really value products being quick and easy to use then I would go for the Micellar water but if you would rather have a deeper cleanse then I would go for this.

What cleanser do you use?

Back To School Makeup

Most people would be really sad about the thought of going back to school but I’m actually pretty excited. I love school, what a nerd! Anyway, I thought what better way to start the new school year than a back to school makeup post.

I’m actually lucky that my school doesn’t really have any rules on makeup (or if it does they aren’t enforced!0 but this is for those who have stricter rules at work or school.

I know the Maybelline Matte Mouse gets laughed at a lot in the beauty world but I actually love it, I don’t really like the feeling of a usual liquid foundation on my skin but because this one is a mouse formula it feels super light and like you aren’t wearing anything but still gives a bit of coverage. I do my eyebrows everyday with Nyx Tame & Frame, its really good and affordable and you can build it up a lot depending on how strong you like your eyebrows. I really love the Lacura Magic Curl mascara, I prefer more natural looking lashes which I think is perfect for school. Another thing that is perfect for school is the Speedy Highlighter by Collection (I’ve used it so much the writing has rubbed off) because it gives a really natural glow but can still be built up if you want something a bit more flashy! I don’t always wear eyeshadow to school because most of the time in the morning I can’t be bothered but the Flawless palette by Makeup Revolution has loads of really natural shades in which would be really great for school.

When I do wear eyeshadow to school I usually go for a nice simple shimmery nude/pink with a bit of light brown in the crease.

Overall I think this looks really nice and natural, and only takes about 10 minutes to do which is plus!

Are you excited about going back to school or college or uni or whatever?

Pink/Burgundy Eyeshadow Look

If you saw my last post you will know I got a new palette, the Flawless palette from Makeup Revolution, and whenever I get a new palette it is all I use for the first couple of weeks! Am I the only one who does this?!

I think dark pink eyeshadow looks amazing on people but I’ve always been a bit scared to try it and stuck with my gold and browns! But there are some beautiful pink shades in this palette that I just had to try, turns out (in my opinion anyway) they look amazing.

The shades I used were Red Night all over the lid with a tiny bit of Burgundy Nights blended through the crease and Shimmer Head in the inner part of my eye.

I think this is so pretty, and something different for me. I quite like stepping out of my comfort zone- not too much though!

I’m going to a wedding soon and I’ve been trying to decide what kind of makeup to do but I’m pretty sure I’ll go with this. I love it because it makes my eyes look a bit bluer!

Makeup Revolution Flawless Palette First Impressions

I’ve never owned anything from Makeup Revolution before but I’ve only ever heard good things about their products so when I was having a browse in Superdrug today I thought I’d pick one of their palettes up.

The first thing that drew me in to the palettes was the beautiful outer packaging! This one, Flawless, has a really pretty rose gold box but there was others with metallic pink and blue and all sorts.

Sadly, the palette itself isn’t rose gold but I like the really classy, sleek black with rose gold lettering.

There are 32 shades in the palette and although the pans are quite small that is still very good for £8. The range of colours is also brilliant, lots of different pinks, golds and browns but also some dark blues, greens, silvers and blacks. There is something in here for everyone.

Overall, I’m very happy with this purchase. For only £8 I would definitely recommend it and I’m pretty sure I would buy some more of the Makeup Revolution products in the future.

Expect some makeup looks using these shades!

Popcorn And Cocktail Pairings

Recently I’ve been inspired by both SkinnyPop popcorn and the lovely weather we’ve been having recently to show you some popcorn and cocktail pairings. These would be perfect for picnics or summer parties.

Obviously if you are underage like me or just don’t drink alcohol you can swap the alcohol in the cocktails for lemonade or a soft drink like that.

I think my personal favourite would have to be the blackberry smash paired with aged white cheddar popcorn. I’ve never seen cheese flavoured popcorn before and it sounds amazing!

You can look at the range of popcorn from SkinnyPop here.
